The third render of my latest project, the Talon Osiris heavy support mech.

Unit information:

Role: the Osiris is deigned to fulfill the role of a heavy support unit, with the ability to engage targets at any rage and the mobility to traverse terrain that would baffle wheeled or tracked vehicles.

Armament:
4) Forward facing 200MM 8 stage high impulse Gauss cannons.
4) Rear mounted 200MM 12 stage long range Gauss artillery cannons.
2) 40 tube guided ground-to-ground/ground-to-air missile racks.
2) 65 pod guided rocket-boosted mortar launchers.
9) 20MM 7 stage point defense Gauss automatic cannons.
-) Automated laser anti-missile system.

Armor:
Advanced composite nano-weave molded plate with outer kinetic dispersion layer.
Gravity projection effect projectile deflection system.
Energy absorption and dispersion armor mesh.

Command and control:
Networked cloud IVE (Independent Virtual Entity) control linkage through quantum entanglement bit transceiver.

Sensor systems:
Full range stereo video sensors.
Full range stereo heat sensors.
Electromagnetic detection system.
Long range micro-gravity pulse radar.
Independent weapons targeting sensors for weapons control.

As a long range artillery system, the legged chassis would be very useful to let it get into hard-reach places and help it defend itself, but 6 legs tend to be very power consuming. A 2 legged chassis would improve mobility and efficiency, and simply by having the vehicle deploy itself into a more stable posture before firing the main armament wouldn't make much of a tactical difference for its role.

The idea behind the Osiris was to make it a very heavy unit, supporting a very high-output power core to allow the 6 legged design to move. Also as it was designed as a fire support/artillery unit I wanted to have maximum stability at all times, as well as the additional ground support to allow it to access areas with rough ground.
You make a good point though, the six legs would be very power hungry.

not sure if i like how the weapons are places, seems it can only engage targets to the front.

It is designed mainly to engage targets to its front, although it does have multiple 20MM cannons on its sides to defend its flanks. For the most part it would be coordinated to act with smaller infantry units to prevent its being flanked.

well, what im saying is, it looks like it would need to move in order to aim well, making its weapons more able to aim would make for a very deadly weapon

The front four cannons and 20MM cannons are able to rotate both vertically and horizontally, while the missile pods and rear artillery cannons are able to rotate vertically. The rocket mortar tubes on the upper frame are, of course, fixed.
You have a very good point though.
