One journal per year is a reasonable update rate, right?

Since 2015 has bitten the dust, I figured it was about time for a yearly summary journal to decorate my profile until I do the same thing next year (at this point, I'm committed to procrastinating on updating my journal section.) Though I may not have posted with incredible speed this past year, it was actually fairly productive, believe it or not, so here's a rundown of things:

Stuff I Made In 2015

I personally felt that my 3D skills picked up some much needed polish in 2015. Whether that's just egotism speaking or not, I'll leave up for you to decide.
In chronological order:

Tama's Justiciar Heavy Rifle by doug7070
Tama's Justiciar, a heavy rifle design that I produced for the awesome Daroneasa

Knoble's Combat Knife (Stream Speed Model) by doug7070
Knoble's Combat Knife, a quick 'n' dirty speed model I did during a livestream for CharlotteChambers

Time by doug7070
Time, a personal concept project I did, heavily inspired by a song of the same name by Pink Floyd

NG-MAB Pulse Rifle by doug7070
The NG-MAB Pulse Rifle, a big project done for the wonderful CharlotteChambers
Shout out as well to prokhorvlg, who did the logo on the background and composition on the ortho sheet. Go check him out, seriously.

Besides these projects, I've got some other big personal work in the pipeline. Who knows, if you check out some of my other online profiles you might even find some WIP stuff.

Stuff Other People Made For Me/Commission Feature

I've also had the opportunity to commission/trade with/request from some really incredible artists this year, who have helped bring some of my characters to life in beautiful style. I would strongly advise you go and check out all of these great artists and their work, and I'd like to personally thank all of them for working with me this past year.
In no particular order:

Nari - Commission for Doug by CharlotteChambersFrom the Flames - Commission for Doug by CharlotteChambersDauros Venn for Doug by CharlotteChambers

Commission: Nari Daloth by Lady-OwlThe Cost Of A Better Fate by Lady-Owl
The Price Of Tomorrow by Lady-OwlComfortably Immoderate by Lady-Owl

Nari Mourning by DaroneasaMercy is only for the Merciful by Daroneasa
Venn by DaroneasaRahn by Daroneasa

Jaken by Foxbride

KiribanPrize - Dauros Venn by Seraphi91

Commission: Venn by Skarita

1k Watchers Stream Request by Octeapi
(Second from the left on the bottom row is my character, others aren't)

Writing Update

One might ask where are all those characters above come from. The answer, as I've mentioned a bit in the past, is that they're from an original science fiction novel that I am currently writing. I don't want to spill very much of the plot, since it's still very much in progress, and things might change, but I will say that I have made a lot of excellent progress in 2015, and hope to get things rolling towards completion this year.
Plot details aside, the general gist of the novel is that it's a grand concept sci-fi tale featuring elements of military and character drama, action, and some space opera to boot. You can expect to see alien characters that take a leading role in the plot, elements of conflict and moral ambiguity, and the clash of empires, ideologies, and military force on scales both grand and personal.
When will it be done? When it's finished. (Don't hold your breath, though.)

That's about it, I suppose. Here's hoping for a good 2016 (or that yours is going well if you're reading this at any point during the year that I'll probably leave it up as my latest journal.) Exciting projects are in the works, so stay tuned!
